During the entire run of the popular series, I Dream of Jeannie (1965-1979) ABC censors never permitted Barbara Eden to display her navel.

Gene Rodenberry once had the censors clip a scene from one of the episodes of Star Trek because a belly dancers had her navel exposed. A year or so later, Laugh In came on the air, which often had close-up shots of a female's navel and a cartoon character diving into it with a splash. Outraged, Rodenberry then gave an ailien belly dancer two navels instead of one in a different episode.

On these, Apple got up from her piano bench, took centre stage and showed off some positively sexy, belly dancer-like moves, shaking her tiny hips and displaying a pierced navel due to an exposed midriff.
